PRINCIPAL'S DESK

 

    I am delighted to welcome you to Rayat Shikshan Sanstha’s Shri Sadguru Gangageer Maharaj Science, Gautam Arts and Sanjivani Commerce College, Kopargaon. Popularly known as SSGM College, established in June 1965, is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune with consistent academic growth. This renowned Sanstha, founded by Padmabhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil in 1919, is imparting quality education to all the masses of the society. The institution is spread over 22.5 acres of lush green land.

Education is both training of mind and soul. It should give both knowledge and wisdom. So we aim to foster global competencies, life skills, scientific temper, technical skills and inculcate moral values among students. We take care to ensure that teaching learning techniques, pedagogic practices and academic mentoring incorporate the best practices in student satisfaction. The college was accredited with ‘B+’ grade CGPA 75.10 by NAAC in 2003. It has been re-accredited with ‘B’ grade CGPA 2.61 in 2009 and with 'B++' grade CGPA 2.82 in 2017. This will certainly encourage us to undertake new and innovative activities for the benefit of our students.

    At present, the Institute offers programmes from 11th standard to Ph.D. We have 20 undergraduate, 11 Postgraduate and two Ph.D. research Programmes. In addition to the traditional B.A., B. Com. and B.Sc., we run professional courses such as Bachelor of Business Administration, 03 Career Oriented Courses and Diploma in Green Chemistry. To prepare the students to face the global employability challenges, the institute conducts 25 Short term courses. In order to avail facility for the students who could not get regular education due to different reasons our College also runs Centre of Yashavantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University since 1992.

    There is a separate well-furnished building for Junior College with well-equipped laboratories. Along with Arts, Science and Commerce, we impart education of HSVC in Electrical, Electronic and Construction Technology. Through Science stream we have Bi-focal Electronics as an optional subject which caters career options in Architecture and Bio-Tech Agriculture. We are proud of having good academic record and renowned alumni.

    We believe that learning beyond classroom is equally important as the classroom interaction. Likewise, students are motivated to participate in various co-curricular, extra-curricular activities. To achieve the holistic development of the students from diverse background, the Institute organizes activities such as Avishkar Research Competition and Poster/ Wallpaper presentation. We channelize student force through NCC, NSS and Competitive Examination Cell and ‘Earn while You Learn Scheme’.

   Without teamwork no institution can prosper. Rayat is the name of unity in diversity where all work together for the implanting vision of the founder. In order to enlarge the mental horizons of students, we have highly motivated and qualified faculty members who constantly seek to upgrade their teaching methods. The office staff also strives to provide the atmosphere of efficiency and cordiality to the students who are the future force of the nation.
