                   Apropos the student-centric vision of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, S. S. G. M. College, Kopargaon continuously pays attention to the multidimensional personality development of the students. Prominent among the student-centric activities carried out according to the university guidelines is the Department of Students Welfare. The department undertakes various activities to enhance the energy of the youth to make them able and responsible citizens.

 

  • Karmveer Bhaurao Patil Earn and Learn Scheme:

 

            Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, the founder member of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha gave the educational philosophy of Earn and Learn Scheme .This scheme is run by the college for the economically poor students. Since 1965, this scheme has been run by the college.

            To realize the dignity of labor is the main objective of this scheme. Since 1996, University of Pune has been taken an initiative to commence the scheme at a college level; even in memory of pioneer Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil the name is given as Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil to the scheme. Now the Savitribai Phule Pune University is bearing 70% expenditure out of total expenditure and college share is also 30% for economically backward students and a sole amount of backward class and minority students.

            Under this scheme, students have to work two hours in a day at the rate of Rs.30/- per hour at present. The intake capacity of the student is of one unit for this scheme.

            Under this scheme various activities are undertaken such as:

1. Office work

2. Field work

3. Garden work

4. Cleaning college campus

5. Library’s book maintenance

6. Tree plantation

7. Applying geru & lime to college campus plants

8. Watering the plants

9. Digging ditches for plantation

10. Filling the pots with soil & manure for plantation

  • Students Aid Fund:

 

                        The College has established students Aid Fund managed by the Students Welfare Committee. The objectives and terms of the fund are-

1.         To render financial aid to the poor students to meet their expenses towards tuition

            Fees, purchase of books or practical journals or similar requirements.

2.         To give limited assistance to the students to meet their mess charges, clothing

            expenses provided their need is genuine in the opinion of the college authorities.

3.         To issue interest-free loans to needy students.

 

  • Students Safety Insurance Scheme:

 

                        In accordance with the Circular No. SWC215/93 dated 21/05/93 from University of Pune, Student's Welfare Committee, Pune-7 the said insurance scheme has been started. Accordingly the student avails of insurance from New India Assurance Company Limited on paying insurance premium at confessional rates.

                        The student or his/her nominee receives compensation as against his/her accidental death or permanent disablement or loss of a limb or casualty during the current academic year. The student or his nominee will have to submit ‘Student Safety Insurance Claim Form’ duly filled in order to claim compensation.

 

In the case of accidental death following documents should be submitted along with the claim form duly completed.

  1. First Information Report

  2. Police ‘Panchanama’

  3. Post-mortem Report

  4. Certificate of Death

  5. Claim Payment details to be certified by Principal

 

In the case of permanent injury following documents should be submitted together with the claim form.

  1. First Information Report

  2. Police ‘Panchnama’

  3. Certificate of the doctor             

  4. Relevant prescription bills, receipts etc.

 

The duly completed form should be submitted within ten days of the accident. The insurance company does not admit liability and accommodate claim unless essential relevant documents are produced.

 

  • Special Guidance Scheme:

 

                         The basic objective of this scheme is

  • To help those students who are deprived of the latest knowledge of the subject they undertake at the first year level.

  • To inculcate the urge to educate oneself, and that education liberates one internally as well as externally.

  • To offer guidance to students in their career choices and the relevant subjects to be pursued by them to attain their best potential.

 

The enrollment under this scheme is basically for students who are economically, financially backward and also to the reserved category students. There is no limit on the number of students who can be enrolled under this scheme. Students have to apply in the prescribed form for joining this scheme.

 

  • Personality Development Scheme for Girls:

 

                       This is a scheme introduced by the University to develop the confidence and personality of a lady student who comes from the rural areas and are deprived sections of society. The main objective of this scheme is to develop a critical mind, self-confidence and a commitment to society. The lady students are given training in health, law, and social activities. They are also given training in self-employment and all possible other activities that enhance her social confidence. This scheme is open to all regular lady students.

 

  • Fearless Girl Campaign (Nirbhay Kanya Abhiyan)


                       The main objectives of this scheme include

  • development of self-confidence

  • how to defend oneself in any situation,

  • training in self-defense

  • Make them fearless and be ready to face any unwanted situation.

The scheme is open to all lady students in the colleges.

 

With treasured guidance of The Board of Students Welfare, University of Pune the college also runs following activities:

  • Student Council

  • Disaster Management Training

  • Placement Center

  • Anti-ragging Cell

  • Participation in Annual College Magazine Competition
